| Alexas Kew | 11th May 2009 | Captain J. Dawson-Paul | 1888 - 1935 | Congratulations on your history of B&P. Captain D-P married my wife's aunt and his tales of derring-do were fascinating. His photo album contained a pic of his parents in a Landau outside their palatial house in Norfolk. He held pilot's licence No.9 and was commissioned in all 3 services - RAFVR, Army & Navy and served in both World Wars. His 1909 boat was a stepped-hull hydroplane - years ahead of its time. He survived Gallipoli and had much respect for "Johnny Turk" who allowed his men to retreat, and rather less for the summary Brit. Mil. justice meted out in the field.
