Food For Thought
The weekly food ration in world war two If applied today would see us through Just one short day, yet once we made it last all week! Our bodies trim and lean were so to speak; Far healthier than they are today. Fast food plus faster lifestyle, sadly here to stay Just listen to what I'm about to say.Way back in 1943 the weekly fare for the likes of me Were, 8 ounces of sugar 2 ounces of lard I think you would have found it very hard 2 ounces of Butter and 2 of Margarine The housewife today would slowly turn green 12 ounces of meat and 4 of Bacon You'd all be complaining, unless I'm mistaken Your families would be hard to please With one egg per week per person And only 4 ounces of cheese Yes you say, but that was then I know it won't happen ever again
Well I'm still here and it's plain to me the food we ate caused no obesity. Somewhere there is a dividing line Between war and peace for yours and mine.
